Rules and Guidelines
This section defines the rules and guidelines we operate by.
These rules are not yet solidified and will probably be subject to frequent
change for a while, so please keep updated on them from time to time.
The basic rule of Redeemed is that you must be a Christian to join. This
is the one solid, non-negotiable principle of Redeemed, as the reason
we exist is to give Christians a good solid group of other Christians
to play with and fellowship with.
We define Christian in the Biblical sense: One who believes that Jesus
is the son of God, that he died on the cross to save us from our own sins,
that he was raised from the dead on the third day and was taken back to
Heaven, that one is saved by truly believing this and having faith in God and
Jesus, and that the Bible is the literal Word of God. Anyone who does not
believe this is not eligible for membership in Redeemed.
If you consider yourself a Christian and do not meet this qualification,
please talk to one of us immediately! We will be overjoyed to explain to
you what a personal relationship with Jesus is all about.
Section I: Positions
The positions we have in Redeemed are separate from the skill rankings.
Anybody of any skill can hold a special job or position. The only
qualifications are that they are able to do the job and they will be active
enough to do it effectively. Special positions make up the Council, which
is the group in charge on making decisions for Redeemed, as discussed in the
next section.
Section II: Leadership
Redeemed is organized and led by the Council, which is made up of the
three Founders (Drachemorder, Aubenseiter, and Verraten), and all members
of Redeemed who have special positions or duties. Any member can ask
for a special position if they see a need they are able
to fill. As long as this need is valid, the position will be given to them
(although it can be given to somebody else later if the current holder
neglects the job). The person holding the job has complete authority over
all aspects of that job, with the exception that his decisions CAN be
overruled explicitly by the Council. However, he does not need to obtain
the approval of the Council ahead of time to make decisions directly
related to his job.
All members have a say in clan affairs. It is the responsibility of the
Council and Founders to act in the best interests of each member as well
as the group as a whole. In general, the council is to act on the wishes of
the membership; however, in cases of extreme disagreement, they do have the
authority to act on their own.
The Founders "own" Redeemed, and have the final authority in case of problems.
There are three Founders, so any disagreement among them can be resolved with
a simple vote.
In case of extreme emergency or high crimes and misdemeanors by one of the
Founders, it is possible to impeach a Founder by a vote of at least 75% of
the active clan membership, based upon evidence that the Founder in question has
violated the rules and principles upon which the clan is based. Any member
is free to bring up a petition for impeachment, and this petition must
set forth the specific reasons for removing the Founder. The member who
created the petition will be in charge of collecting votes from the
membership, and when the 75% requirement is met, he will be responsible
for presenting the petition to the other Founders. They will then confirm
that each member who signed the petition did indeed vote for the impeachment,
and if this is found to be the case, the Founder in question will be
relieved of that position and treated as a normal member.
If this ever happens, further rules may be created to deal with the problem
of adding a new "supreme commander" figure, which would probably include a
change of the name of the position, since "founder" would no longer be
accurate.
A decision of the Council requires a simple majority vote of Council members.
After this vote is taken, the Founders can vote to overrule it if 2 out of the
3 agree to do so. This should only be done in extreme cases where there
is overwhelming justification for overruling the Council.
Therefore, a Council decision can pass without the
approval of the Founders, if they do not think it worth overruling.
Also, at least one Founder must be online and must approve if the Council
is considering a major rule change or other major action.
Section III: Promotions
Padawans can be promoted to Jedi Knights on the recommendation of their
Masters, and the approval of the Master of Trials. In order to gain this approval,
the Padawan must be able to defeat a current Jedi Knight at at least two
of the four major game settings, these being FF guns, NF guns, FF sabers, and
NF sabers. The Padawan must be able to play competitively at any settings
at which he cannot defeat a current Knight. These games should be documented
either by the presence of a neutral player, or a screen shot. Once this
requirement is met, the Master of Trials can give his approval for the promotion.
He will then ensure that the member list is updating accordingly, and the
Master will be free to take a new padawan.
Promotions from Jedi Knight to Jedi Master work in a similar way, except that
the Knight must be able to defeat a current Master, and the promotion is
decided by the Master of Trials. Anybody can recommend a Knight's promotion
to the Master of Trials, but he is not under any obligation to grant the
promotion if he feels that the Knight is not yet skilled enough or active
enough.
We are also considering a new ranking system based on a more neutral
and consistent evaluation of skill. The rules for this will be posted
here as the system is developed.
Section IV: Status
There are three possible Status indicators for members: Active, Inactive,
and Hold. If a member does not show up online for an extended period
of time, they can be listed as Inactive. Inactive members are automatically
disqualified from any competitions or clan wars they are in. If a member
remains Inactive for an extended period of time, they will be placed on Hold.
Members on Hold are disqualified from any competitions, demoted to the level
of Padawan, and relieved of any Council position or special duties they may
have.
A member who is Inactive or on Hold may be rendered Active again by returning
to action. If he was on Hold, he must find a Jedi Master willing to take him
as Padawan until is is seen that he is indeed active again.
The Hold status can be avoided if a member knows in advance that he will be
gone for an extended period of time, by posting a message to that effect
on the message board. He will be rendered Inactive during his absence, but he
will not be in danger of a Hold.
Players that are left on hold for an extreme amount of time may be dropped
from membership altogether, after attempts to contact them have failed. This
action can only be done by a decision of the Council, however.
Section V: Joining & Ejections
A non-member applies for membership by posting a message to the messsage
board. At that point, he is added to the waiting list. He becomes a member
when a current Jedi Master agrees to accept him as a Padawan. At that point,
the Master should post a message to the board, and the new member will be
added to the member list as a Padawan.
Names of new Redeemed members must be approved by the Founders. Any Founder
can veto a proposed name, or name change. Redeemed names must be unique
and individual (i.e. no "Luke Skywalker" or other blatant Star Wars ripoffs),
and must be at least somewhat of a serious nature. (No "Spaz" or such).
Current members can be ejected from the clan if they are either on hold for a
long period of time, blatantly break any of the rules as set forth here, or
consistently act in a manner which is blatantly contrary to Christian
principles. Ejecting a member requires a decision of the Council as defined
in these rules. Ejecting a Founder requires a 75% majority vote of the
entire active membership of Redeemed based on the specific charges against
the Founder, as defined previously.
Section VI: General Rules of Play
All members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which reflects
well on the clan at all times. There are several specific rules in this
regard:
- No swearing. Profanity is strictly forbidden at ALL TIMES. If you
are caught using profanity in a game, in a conversation with other members,
or on the message boards, you could be kicked out.
- No hacking of any kind. You cannot use any hacks in a game under your
Redeemed name. A hack is defined as any patch or add-on that gives you
powers above those built into the game that are not shared by the other
players. If you are caught using a cheat in a game, if there is no
doubt that you were cheating, you will be summarily dismissed from
Redeemed.
- You should maintain a sportsmanlike attitude. Mean spirited taunting
or whining is not allowed. Do NOT accuse another Redeemed member of
cheating unless you can offer hard, specific evidence that they are doing
so.
Accusations of cheating will be investigated by the Council, and
acted upon accordingly. If they are found to be false, the Council will
then investigate the person bringing the charges to see if they did so
with malicious intent. If THAT is found to be true, the member bringing
the charges can be ejected.
